Brass Button and Spring fit inside the Inner/Outer Post and J-Bar of the Adjustable Backrest Bar. Not easy to replace.  Also could pull out the existing Brass Button and Spring Assembly, expand the spring and attempt to replace.  The final alternative is to purchase a new Adjustable Backrest Bar.
